Original Artwork for Sale

On this page you will find some of Marie-Claire's original artwork for sale. To view sold paintings, please go to her gallery. Original artwork is bought by a range of people, from those who want a  single original piece to hang in the family home to art collectors who regularly purchase Marie-Claire's work. Marie-Claire also paints on commission. A collection of early work for sale is also available.

Marie-Claire Colyer’s wildlife, nature and bird paintings are sold internationally and a selection are available as fine art reproductions (the prints page is temporarily unavailable - please email if you are interested in a particular reproduction). Reproductions are cropped to standard frame sizes and lack the painting around the sides, whereas originals are the full artwork.

Original Paintings

Artwork is ready to frame or hang as is gallery wrapped, (painted on all sides with D-rings and wire) and is rendered in professional artists’ acrylic on archive stretched canvas. They are protected by a non-removable isolation coat with excellent flexibility and chemical, water and UV resistance. It is still recommended that work be kept in a dry environment out of sunlight and extremes of temperature.

Archival quality acrylic paint with a high lightfastness grade of pigment has been used in all painted work. The lightfastness, (permanency of colour or resistance to fading) in the paints used are rated ASTM 1-2, which are of the highest gradings for archival paints. This rating is from ASTM International (The American Society of Testing Materials).

Original Drawings

Marie-Claire’s drawings are usually studies of the wildlife she paints. These capture less formal poses, allowing her to explore behaviours before beginning a more detailed painting.

Her drawings are done in Faber Castell Polychromos oil pencils, often with an overlay of acrylic and or watercolour paint, on acid and lignin free 300gsm watercolour paper. Paper is A sizing ready to frame into standard A size frames.
