Portrait of Burma
FOR SALE - $480
There is an evocative sense of sadness that seems to well from the eyes of many large animals, including whales, rhino and elephants. As if there is a profound awareness that we connect with on an intrinsic level. These elephants are listed as endangered and their populations are decreasing. I find myself drawn to portray these animals.
This drawing is from a photo taken of Burma the Burmese elephant at Auckland Zoo. The basis of this drawing is in oil pencils with additional touches of oil paint for the fine hairs on Burma’s forehead and eye lashes.
Medium: Polychromos oil pencil and oil paint on heavy textured paper
